Bring your folding bike onto buses and trains
Ever since the Land Transport Authority of Singapore (LTA) has announced the 6-month trial of allowing folding bicycles and Personal Mobility Devices (PMDs) onto public transport such as the buses and MRT trains (the actual news release can be found here) throughout the day. There has since been a number of discussions and queries on the exact types of folding bicycles that are suitable.
Specifically, the requirements to be complied are
- The folding bike must be folded at all times (and therefore not ridden) in the trains/buses as well as within train stations and bus terminals.
- After folding, the dimension must not be more than 70cm (height) x 120cm (width) x 40cm (depth).
- Only 1 folding bike is allowed per bus, and it is not allowed on the upper deck.
- Riders should occupy the first or last car of the MRT trains, and use the wide fare gates to enter or leave the train stations.
At CycleLogy, we have created a list of these bicycles that conforms to the dimension requirements and we will continually update the list of bicycles. Please refer to the list of bicycles that conforms to the dimension restrictions here.
